About – Péter Gulyás, Photographer
The world as I see it.

For me, photography is a way of exploring and understanding the world. I am drawn to light, shapes, shadows and the small moments of everyday life that often go unnoticed — the details we might otherwise simply walk past.
I live and create in Balassagyarmat, Hungary. Nature, landscapes and the urban environment all play an important part in my photography. I am particularly drawn to black-and-white photography, minimalist imagery, street photography and experimental visual approaches.
In nature, I look for silence, traces of passing time and the beauty of simple forms. In the city, I observe the relationship between people and the built environment, the interplay of light and shadow, and moments that cannot be repeated.
I am not necessarily looking for extraordinary events. Often, the simplest scene holds a story worth preserving.
Series and photographic projects
My work includes individual photographic series as well as longer-term creative projects.
My series Silhouettes of Elizabeth is built around street photographs taken near Elizabeth Bridge in Budapest. Light, shadow, human figures and the bridge’s distinctive structure create a visual world I have returned to again and again over the years.
In my black-and-white series Tangled Whispers, I explore the interwoven lines of tree branches, their organic forms and the abstract compositions that emerge from them.
Living near the Ipoly River, I feel a particular connection to documenting the river and its surroundings. Through the Ipoly Project, I work with fellow photographers to present the river’s natural heritage, the towns and villages along its banks, and the stories of the people who live there.

From photographs to wall art
For me, a photograph does not end when it appears on a screen. A printed image offers a different experience: its size, its surface and the way it relates to its surroundings give the work a new dimension.
That is why I created my own canvas print shop, where I make a selection of my photographic work available.
Every image in the collection is my own work. From quiet moments in nature to the abstract forms of the urban landscape, I select photographs that can stand on their own as artworks in a home or another personal space.
Every made-to-order canvas print carries one of my original photographic works into the world of printed art.
Thank you for taking the time to discover my work.
